XPENG is extending its automotive-grade manufacturing capabilities to robotics, marking a critical step toward the mass production of humanoid robots.
XPENG Inc. (NYSE: XPEV; HKEX: 9868) has officially commissioned its humanoid robot production lines, marking a major step in the company’s transition from research and development to large-scale manufacturing of advanced humanoid robots.
The milestone was highlighted by the completion of the first next-generation XPENG IRON humanoid robot produced on the new manufacturing lines. The robot autonomously walked off the production floor, demonstrating XPENG’s progress from prototype development toward volume production.
According to XPENG, the facility features the world’s first automated production lines designed for advanced humanoid robots. The facility applies automotive-grade quality systems developed for the smart electric vehicle industry to the precision manufacturing of humanoid robots.
More than 80% of the facility’s core processes are automated, allowing XPENG to improve manufacturing consistency while supporting faster production expansion. The company said its high-precision and flexible manufacturing system is designed to maintain quality across critical production stages.
XPENG IRON Designed for General-Purpose Applications
The next-generation XPENG IRON is a key part of the company’s Physical AI strategy. The humanoid robot combines human-like movement and form with AI-powered intelligence, with the goal of supporting a wide range of real-world applications.
XPENG is developing IRON as an advanced general-purpose humanoid platform that can continuously improve through real-world learning and self-reinforcement. The company is also focusing on safety and reliability as the robot moves closer to commercial deployment.
IRON features a proprietary, fully enclosed flexible lattice structure designed to balance appearance, mobility, and safety. The robot has 76 degrees of freedom across its body and 21 degrees of freedom in each hand, allowing it to perform detailed movements and complex tasks.
Its AI capabilities are powered by three proprietary AI Turing chips, delivering up to 2,250 TOPS of computing power. This computing capacity allows XPENG to run its Physical AI foundation model directly on the robot, enabling autonomous task execution without remote operation while supporting low-latency processing and improved data security.
XPENG Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said the company is building production capabilities for a completely new product category. He also emphasized XPENG’s goal of developing humanoid robots that can become part of everyday life and provide practical assistance to people.

XPENG Targets Humanoid Robot Mass Production by 2026
XPENG plans to begin mass production of its humanoid robots by the end of 2026. Initial commercial deployment is expected to take place at XPENG stores and company campuses.
The company plans to officially introduce and deliver its humanoid robots in China and overseas markets in 2027, marking an important stage in its broader Physical AI expansion.
XPENG is positioning automotive technology, robotics, and globalization as three complementary growth pillars. The company expects its robotics business to become another major growth engine as advanced humanoid robots move toward commercial production.
XPENG Prepares for Philippine Launch
The humanoid robot manufacturing milestone comes as XPENG prepares for its official launch in the Philippines on September 25, 2026.
The Philippine launch will introduce XPENG’s Physical AI vision to the local market and feature the Philippine debut of the XPENG X9 and XPENG L03.
The XPENG X9 is the company’s flagship seven-seater designed to combine premium comfort, flexible interior space, and intelligent mobility technologies. Its features include the Intelligent XOS Cockpit, XPILOT ASSIST driver assistance technology, active rear-wheel steering, and an intelligent dual-chamber air suspension system.
Designed for different lifestyles, the X9 can serve as an executive vehicle, a premium family vehicle, or a flexible everyday travel companion.
Joining the X9 is the XPENG L03, a next-generation AI SUV coupĂ© that combines intelligent technology, distinctive styling, everyday practicality, and connected mobility. Both models highlight XPENG’s approach to integrating artificial intelligence into vehicles that can better understand and respond to their users.
Major Investment Supports XPENG’s Robotics Business
XPENG’s expansion into robotics is also supported by significant investor interest. On August 24, the company’s robotics business entered into share purchase agreements with multiple investors, raising more than US$900 million at a post-money valuation exceeding US$6.3 billion.
According to XPENG, the transaction represents the largest single-round private capital raise in China’s embodied AI industry to date.
The investment reflects investor confidence in XPENG’s technology, product development roadmap, manufacturing capabilities, and long-term commercial opportunities in the Physical AI sector.
By combining a unified Physical AI foundation model with intelligent vehicles, humanoid robots, and scalable manufacturing, XPENG is working to create an integrated ecosystem that connects artificial intelligence with the physical world.
The company’s strategy aims to expand AI beyond traditional digital applications and bring intelligent technology into vehicles, robots, and other areas of everyday life.
