Ana Aboitiz Delgado Becomes First Female President of Bankers Association of the Philippines

The Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP) has elected UnionBank President and CEO Ana Aboitiz Delgado as its President for the 2026–2027 term, marking the first time a woman has led the organization in nearly 80 years. Delgado’s election comes at a critical moment for the banking sector, as institutions navigate rapid digitalization, the rise of artificial intelligence, and increasingly interconnected operational and geopolitical risks.

Since January 2025, Delgado has spearheaded UnionBank’s operations as President and CEO, after more than 20 years of leading its digital transformation, consumer finance, institutional and SME banking, and customer experience initiatives.

“As we accelerate digitalization and unlock the potential of AI, we also face a next generation of risks that extend beyond individual institutions and national borders,” Delgado said. “These challenges highlight the BAP’s role in promoting industry-wide standards, fostering collaboration, and ensuring trust in the financial system is preserved and strengthened.”

Representing the country’s universal and commercial banks, the BAP continues to play a vital role in maintaining financial stability, aligning industry practices, and supporting sustainable growth across the Philippine banking sector.
